On April 14, two men arrived on a motorbike at the famous landmark of Galaxy apartments in Mumbai’s Bandra area. Those in the know will be aware that the said apartment is the abode of Bollywood superstar Salman Khan. The two unidentified bike-borne men fired as many as four rounds around 5 am, as per reports.

Immediately after the incident, Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde held a discussion with Mumbai Police Commissioner to address the issue. Speaking to the media personnel, Eknath Shinde termed the incident as ‘unfortunate’, and also said that the ‘accused will be caught, and stringent action will be taken against them. As a step in that direction, the superstar’s security has now been beefed up. Let’s take a look at the list of celebs whose security was beefed up in the past!

Bollywood celebs whose security was increased

Salman Khan

Following the incident on April 14, which involved two bike-borne men firing four rounds at the Galaxy apartments, the security for the superstar has now been increased.

Shah Rukh Khan

The very name of ‘Shah Rukh Khan’ and seamless popularity always go hand in hand. Even though he started on an all-time high note with hits, smash hits, superhits and bumper hits, there also came a time when he hit a low.

Not the one to give up at all, this Khan superstar eventually bounced back with Pathaan and Jawan, two films that proved to be tornado hits at the box office! Following this, he went on to take proactive steps to ensure his own safety, and the security was beefed up with specialised security personnel being deployed outside his residence.

Acting on the information from the intel, the superstar was assigned Y-plus security, as per a report in The Economic Times. For the unversed, the Y-plus security comprises 11 security personnel, comprising five armed guards and six personal security officers who had been stationed at his house.

Kangana Ranaut

Always known to be someone who will not mince her words for anything in the world, there have been many times when she proved to be controversy’s favourite child. The Queen actress received a Y-plus security 2020, following her verbal clash with MP Sanjay Raut. Her stand (then) on the farmers’ protest and her remarks on the CAA also made her a target. Citing these reasons, she had justified the security for herself and her near and dear ones.

Akshay Kumar

This happened last year, when the security of Akshay Kumar aka ‘Khiladi Kumar’ was increased by the Government of Maharashtra to the X-category, which saw the actor being accompanied by three-armed security officers, ensuring 24X7 protection for him. The reason for the security for Akshay Kumar was not disclosed.

Vivek Agnihotri

Post the release of the film The Kashmir Files (which showed the raw reality of the area), the film’s director Vivek Agnihotri started getting threats to his life because of the film’s content. To protect the filmmaker, he was provided with Y-category security.

Amitabh Bachchan

In 2022, Bollywood’s megastar Amitabh Bachchan reportedly received life threats. Following which, the security for him was upped from Y-category to X-category. The reason for the same had not been disclosed.

Aayush Sharma

Besides being an actor, Aayush Sharma also happens to be Salman Khan’s brother-in-law. In view of the death threats that were issued to Salman Khan in 2022, the Mumbai police had provided the Dabangg star with Y-plus protection. As a safety measure, a few police officers were deployed to Aayush Sharma for the media appearances, while he was promoting his next movie Ruslaan, as per the reports available.

Anupam Kher

Following the release of the film The Kashmir Files, it was not just the filmmaker Vivek Agnihotri who was given security, but also veteran actor Anupam Kher, who played the protagonist in the film. 

Aamir Khan

The film PK proved to be a worldwide blockbuster. But, along with the success of the film, came the perils in the form of death threats. After the release of the film, Aamir Khan reportedly got a death threat from a gangster. This immediately led to Aamir Khan being given security protection.
